Sanity check: CNC mill with DRO.

    Hi all:
About a year ago I purchased a PM-728-VT Ultra precision mill. I also installed a DRO
so I could do some work while I collected all the CNC items for it.
I installed a Centroid Acorn system with Clearpath servos
and have it running. I highly recommend this system.
My question is, should I keep the DRO? it's allways
1 or 2 thou off from the CNC display. But it does give me
an idea if everything is working ok. It is a cheap Chinese DRO
I may be able to calibrate to the CNC. I may give it a try.
Anyone have set up like this??

    Any advice appreciated.

What do you mean by 1 - 2 thou off?

Difference in travel measured? Over what distance?

You won't do any harm by having a DRO sitting there. Not sure it does you much good though.
