How to keep Z axis down with VoluMill

    Hi All,
Is there a way to keep the z-axis from raising during the non-cutting positioning part of the cycle in Solidworks?

    Are you using HSM?.
I recall in Inventor it was to do with the "maximum stay down distance" value in the last tab (that comes after the finishing passes etc settings).
If you have a lift/retract distance to next cut of say 80 and you set the above value to 90 the tool will stay down.

This is NOT advised if the said move is a RAPID!!. (unless tool will not be going through any stock).

It might not even be the same cam program as yours anyway, but I would say it would be marked as a "stay down" type setting still.

It wasn't a problem when I used HSM, but now using the built in Solidworks CAM, I can't find it.
    Thanks,

In this software it is not so obvious that they gave such option. It is very poor.

You can use G99 in Fanuc cycles. It works.

Thanks for the replies, and here is the answer. Set Floor Clearance in Volumill Settings to 0.
