please, what kind of (un)expected crash did you encountered ?

hello i have crashed, i heard/read about what others did, etc

whenever possible, to prevent repetition, i tried to use safety codes

please, i am thinking that there may be cases that i did not encountered yet, like something basic or really rare

if you wish, please describe whatever nasty situation, and if it can be prevented / kindly

Re: please, what kind of (un)expected crash did you encountered ?

The only time I have crashed my lathe was when I forgot to add the G53 before doing a tool change. I was testing a new program with my hand on the E-stop button, the turret was right next to the chuck and did a tool change before I could hit the E-stop. Caused some serious damage to one of my very expensive live tool holders.

The machine safety systems shut the machine down when it sensed the overload, but not before the damage was done. At least the safety systems prevented other mechanical damage.

After that, I wrote some code in my program to make sure the carriage was in the safe tool change position before making a tool change. If not safe, the machine shuts down. I was able to actually test this later, when again I forgot to add the G53 before a tool change, it shut the machine down exactly like it was supposed to do..

I should write some code that checks the G code file on load for these kind of stupid errors. Maybe some day I'll do that.

So far, I would say EVERY single Crash I have had was unexpected!
