I just wanted to post about my 25 year old 1220.
It has been a great machine. I never used the mill attachment
after trying it a few times.
Over the years I have gotten more tooling as the need came up.
One of the first things I done was to put a QCTP on. This made
my infrequent jobs delightful.
Now that I have semi retired I use the lathe more as I have more
free time. I have watched videos on people improving their
equipment.
So I have added a Electronic Lead Screw, home brew using
Arduino / Stepper. GREAT addition. Sure makes it fun to do
turns and boring holes.
Next was a tool post drill adapter. Used a chuck off a unused
drill, and some drill rod. My greatest accomplishment was cutting
the dove tail to mount on my QCTP. This addition is very handy
when needing to spot drill for set screws etc.
Then just messing around I wanted (did not need) a digital
readout on my tail stock. It works but have not needed it yet.
Over the course of 25+ years the 1220 has done very well!
I can bore straight, turn to exact sizes when needed.
I only have done minor maintenance such as belts, shim for
backlash, and clean.
A couple of pictures attached.
