    GL-45 Motor Upgrade

    Kia ora everyone,

    I recently brought a flogged GL-45 mill which i am currently converting to CNC. It has had about 10 years of work out of an engineering firm, so fair to say the gearbox is tired and quill is a little sloppy. I was going to just replace the bearings and leave it be, but now im thinking i may as well upgrade it.

    I want to remove the gears and just belt drive the quill instead. I want to try aim for 3k RPM.

    What motors have people run on their RF-45 or RF-45 clones? Any links to where i could buy one would be even better!

    Cheers Team!

    Re: GL-45 Motor Upgrade

    Hi All,

    Ive been busy finishing my control cabinet and everything is working great. I just need to put some settings into my VFD. Can someone please help me with the correct settings. I have a 2.2KW VFD Inverter 220V 10A Three Phase Variable Frequency Drive with a 2 Pole 2.2KW Three Phase Asynchronous motor.

    I hope to be running the spindle to 7000rpm with a 2:1 ratio belt drive. The settings i have so far are.

    PD001=1
    PD002=0
    PD003=50
    PD004=50
    PD005=50
    PD006=2.5
    PD007=20
    PD008=415
    PD009=15
    PD010=8
    PD011=30
    PD014 Acceleration=3
    PD015 Deceleration=3
    PD023=0
    PD120=100
    PD141=415
    PD142=4.3?? 3 phase?
    PD143=2
    PD144=2860
    PD070=1
    PD072=50
    PD174=10

    Cheers Rohan.
