Bought this China 6040 router with Planetcnc software and it will not let me type the" Serial Number" in the box to register it. Any Ideas why not? It's like its grayed out or something. Thanks

Does the router contain a PlanetCNC-supplied controller (hardware)?

I suspect the router was sold with a counterfeit controller, and that is why the field is grayed-out. All legitimate (authentic) controllers have a unique license tied to the logic chip that prevents unauthorized coping and pirated use - to protect PlanetCNCs intellectual property.

Chinese suppliers sometimes try to cheat and work around these necessary barriers.

Your best option would be to tear out the counterfeit controller board and buy and replace with a legitimate, licensed, controller from www.Planet-CNC.com.

I have no idea about the software or the controller. All I know I bought it on Amazon it worked for 1 year. Now it does not work on a new laptop. Thank you for your thoughts.

Thanks you all for your thoughts. I found out my "License" that came with this 6040 China router "Expired". Go figure China would "not" give me a "Non Expiring" license. Talk about cheep. Guess you get what you pay for. Thanks again. Any body know how to convert to Mach3? I have a license for Mach3. John
