    Okuma l370mw c axis issue

My lathe is no longer doing c axis contouring. The c axis will jog in manual just fine, but when running a program, it will load up to 163% and alarm out. I have ran 3-4 programs cutting a square end on a shaft milling axially. I tried again today and the c axis loads up and alarms out. It will position just fine, but when it starts the cut it’s not rotating. The alarm is 1181-20 alarm-a mcs diff over spdl-1 17ae

The low pressure brake comes on during contouring. The high pressure brake is used when clamping. What typically happens is that the film of grease that is on your brake eventually wears off during contouring due to the friction. The friction is there to keep the spindle from oscillating during heavy milling since just holding it electronically will allow some oscillation. I think that if you put the film of grease back onto your brake disc, that your overload will go away. Just a thin film and not enough to sling off. It’s supposed to be there.

    Best regards,
Experience is what you get just after you needed it.

pay attention - a Molibden based grease should be applied on the brake.
