    Very large Gcode File Problems

I have a Benchtop Pro 24x36 and it runs great normally. I use Mach4 and when I load a 3D carving file with more than 3 million lines of code the machine screams and loses steps as soon as I hit cycle start. I have to close mach and re-home the machine. I haven't been able to run large files on this machine and have to use my Xcarve to do them. Any ideas what the problem might be or can they just not handle large files.

Are you sure you've got the license for Mach 4 installed correctly? Not sure how Mach 4 works, but the unlicensed version of Mach 3 would only do 500 lines of code.

Yes Mark, I've ran programs with thousands of lines. Mach tries but the machine doesn't seem to be able to handle it.

Sorry I can't help out much more, I'm a LinuxCNC guy. How much memory do you have installed in the controller machine? Are you running any other programs in the background when those big files try to run?

    Hi Conrad,

Artsoft has made a number of updates to Mach 4 in recent history to address large programs. If you aren't running the latest version of Mach 4, I'd recommend downloading the latest installer/updater from our site:

    https://www.avidcnc.com/support/inst...wnloads/mach4/

If you are already on the latest version, please reach out to our support team and we can try to re-create and troubleshoot the issue on our end.

    Thanks,

I updated Mach and it didn't help the problem. I emailed support 5 days ago and haven't gotten a response yet.
