    Question what's the non-wire?

    Hi.
In shortening the cable carrier over the Z steppermotor I cut the power cable to the spindle with a view to re-joining it ( to give a shorter overall length) rather than undoing the whole drag chain assemblies from the spindle right back to the 'box' - and I found 4 wires red blue green yellow plus the shielding but in the middler of the four wires there's a fifth 'non wire in a plastic 'sheath' which appears to be some soft fibrous material.

Can anyone tell me what it is and what's it there for?

    Thanks,
    Rob.

It's called a filler. That is exactly what I does, it fills extra space in the cable.
