i cannot for the life of me find the weight capacity for this machine? my boss wants me to turn some rather large parts and i want to be sure im not going to hurt the machine... any help is appreciated
they are tough, and have a dimension safe factor of 2 or 3
use wood under, as small distance from part, in case the part falls, it should hit those woods and not the casting
strong, big section jaws, and make sure contact with such large parts is :
... if suported by tailstok and/or steady, less important
... near jaw far end, if only suported in chuck; jaw tilt may be more than usual, so machining the jaws involve more control than the average soft jaws
*if jaws are too weak, then the bottom one may buckle and get back to it's good position after the spindle turnet for 120*, but next jaw will buckel too : this means that ther will be tir induced to you part because of the jaws, and futher more, this may lead to a crack
in case you wonder, i have loaded 1000kg on a 3000series, listed as 500kg max capacity; jaw design and preparation took 3 days; of course, don't go spining high rpms
if you wish for specific sugestions, share more data / kindly
ps : search "Supporting load" in OPERATION & MAINTENANCE manuals - should be a table like attached
