OSP file floppy 8" to PC

GOOD MORNING, I would like to read 8 inch floppy disks on a computer, have any of you done that?now I bought this 115 volt shugart 901 reader, this morning I tried to enter the 115 volts and it seems to be spinning, can any of you help me understand how to make the connections of the 44 pins to connect it to the computer? Thank you
    here is a reader's manual http://www.dvq.com/docs/nicolet/sa900-901-Shugart.pdf

You should use usb to fdd ide converter. You must have electronic skills.

Adrain Black recently did a youtube video on getting an 8" floppy drive working on a PC follow this link

The problem I would forsee is that the disk is probably OSP formatted and the computer is going to expect DOS format. Perhaps Kurmay's OSP reader could deal with that problem.

hi guys, someone wants to take this project back with me, if you have electronic skills I can do the manpower work including buying the necessary hardware, if everything works I can read your floppies for you and send the files or make a copy to you of the disc, obviously if you help me I'll do it for free, thanks

Re: OSP file floppy 8" to PC

A problem here is that SHUGART 901 is a single head disk drive whereas OKUMA diskettes are DS/DD (double sided, double density type). This means it is not possible to read them with this unit. In the begginings I tried to do same thing with ROBOTRON 8'' drive, but after reading lot of manuals and internet sources realised that Im on wrong way. Another trouble is that PC does not have direct compatibility with 8'' floppy drives (except some rare cases) as they wheren't supposed to be used on these systems. I have read OKUMA system disks with it's original FDD-412A drive and Kryoflux board. Wanted to write new, edited version of some software files, but weren't able to do so, as this disk drive is somewhat specific in regards to writing files. Again-as mentioned earlier, connecting drive to PC require electronic skills (FDD-412A has separated data output so there is a need to use logic elements to get data out normally).
