    getting copy of Fanuc ladder

I saw online where someone had a text version copy of their ladder. Any suggestions on how to achieve?

I have an Oi-Mate-MB and backed up SRAM on my machine on a card and got two files with names SRAM1_0A.FDB and SRAM1_0B.FDB. Is there a way to view the ladder from these files without buying special expensive software?

Also, I tried to get the ladder to punch to my PC via RS-232 and just kept getting errors. Despite the fact that I dripfeed from the PC all the time and can send and receive programs just fine plus have been able to punch the other data (parameters, pitch comps, macro variables, tool comps, etc). For some reason I can't get the ladder. Am trying to follow the steps exactly in the Fanuc Maintenance Manual (Section 3.2.3) with no luck. For examples, in step 11 is the "floppy cassette" what you select for RS-232 output, and in step 14 where is the "@" symbol on the Fanuc keypad or am I missing something obvious here?

Man, I love Fanuc for its history and commonality but they sure don't make it easy on a guy

    Thanks fellow Fanuc sufferers

    1. Select MDI mode.
    2. Press OFFSET
SETTING key then soft key [SETTING] to select a setting screen.
    3. Set the cursor to PARAMETER WRITE and input 1 and INPUT .
At this time, alarm 100 will be generated.
    4. Press SYSTEM key and soft key [PMC].
    5. Press soft key [PMCPRM] and soft key [KEEPRL]
    6. Set the cursor to K17 and set the first bit to 1.
    X X X X X X 1 X INPUT
Where, mark x is a former value
Thus, data input/output screen has been selected.
    7. Select EDIT mode.
    8. Press soft key then key .
    9. Press soft key [I/O] and set the parameters on I/O.
Item selection cursor moves to the following item after data of an item
    is set.
10.In CHANNEL NO item, input 1 INPUT to select I/O channel 1.
11.In DEVICE item, press soft key [FDCAS] to select the floppy cassette.
12.In KIND DATA item, press soft key [PARAM].
13.In FUNCTION item, press soft key [WRITE].
14.In FILE No item, specify a file name. In this example input as follows:
    @ P M C INPUT
15.Press soft key [EXEC]. Then PMC parameters are started to be output.
16.After the PMC parameters have been output, set PARAMETER

The SRAM files are specific to the control they are punched from and individual files can not be read from them.
The ladder file can be output from the BOOT System or from the I/O screen on the PMC Side.
I think the ladder can be output to serial port using H-File or Handy file. The baud rate and stop bits are set in the same I/O area and do not use the same settings as the NC side (part program).
As far as I am aware, any way the ladder is output is in machine code. You will need Fanuc software to decompile it to a man readable format for printing.

Thanks for this. Spent a lot of time trying to even output the PMC parameters per the instructions but can't for some reason. Not sure why. And if I can't output the parameters to RS-232 I can't output the ladder either which is what I'm after.

Are the I/O variables for the PMC punch process controlled by I/O channel = 0 variables (0101, 0102,0103) or Channel 1 variables (0111,0113,0113) or Channel 2 variables (0121,0122,0123)? The example in the yellow book shows them controlled by Channel 0 but when you select the I/O punch options it only lets you select either Channel 1 or Channel 2. Confusing.

1: the ladder is a user file on the flash module; it can be output from the BOOT System or from the I/O screen on the PMC Side (as mentioned).
2: the I/O variables for the PMC punch process are controlled by the I/O screen on the PMC side. The baudrate is 4800 or 9600.

Ok, thanks, got it working and backed up. Created another DNC profile with values that match the ones on the PMC screen and it works slick as can be. What was getting me was that the other parameters (0101 etc) are different than the PMC parameters apparently.

Now I need to figure out how to interpret the results without owning Ladder iii software. Is there a free option out there for just viewing and not editing?

Re: getting copy of Fanuc ladder

When I punched out the ladder on one of the machines I take care of from the I/O in PMC, the file is an ASCII representation of HEX data.

The ladder is stored on an EPROM and I thankfully haven't needed to do anything with it, but decided it would be good to have SOMETHING to start with if things went south.

This question is just for my general knowledge, but does anyone know the general procedure to burn the data from this file on a new chip? Below is a snippet of the the file:

    Code:
    &FWPMC :S004000000FB

That is a S-format hex file. If needed, you just load it back using the i/o menu in the PMC side.

Exactly. Now, how do you take that S-format hex file and make it look like a ladder in TXT format? I saw a pic of a text format ladder but am not sure if it came from Fladder software or if there was a different way to do it.

Afaik, only FLADDER can use that ladder file. There are several 'free' versions on the web.
