new build, have some basic questions

    Thanks for looking.
Here is a small build I'm working on. 1030 extrusion over 2" square tubing. Avidcnc rack and pinion, pre fabed z. Nema 34s on x and y. Triple stack 23 on z. 3kw main spindle. 5kw secondary.

Any questions or comments are welcome.

My input amperage on 115v is approx 36amps with all the power sources added up. Should I be running a low amp on off switch to a relay to power them up? Even if I run 220 to them I'm over 15amps. Where should the breaker go? Thanks for any input.

    Control panel is just that.
e-stop, system arm, vacuum release, spindle speed control for both spindles, etc.
Lunchbreak is the name of the business its being built for.

You already have the Breakers installed, mounting everything on wood is a bad Idea, you need to mount everything on an aluminum Ground Plane

You don't appear to have a Disconnect on the Main Power entering the cabinet.

The Main supply after the Disconnect should go to the Breakers, and then to each device you want to protect, The VFD Drives normally would have a contactor to turn the Main Power supply On / Off

Where do you live that you have 115v /220v supply?

3kw spindle will be more that15A @220v, what is the amp rating of the spindle 3Kw on 120v will run very poorly, and I would not recommend to do this if you have a 220v supply

18 gauge sheet metal back plate painted the same color as the cabinet.

So, you have a Ground Buss, where all your Grounds connect to this one point, (Star Ground) and where the main powered items are mounted, to the plate there is no paint

What country do you live in that gives you 115V and 220v, that does not work Like that, if you live in NA, it can't be 220v if you have 115v it would be 230v if you live in NA, though the correct number to be using is,120v/240v even if your supply is lower than this.

Definitely 110v, thanks for the input. You may have extrapolated that I know just enough to be dangerous.

So, you have more than one Grounding point in the Cabinet, you should only have (1) main Grounding Point. (Star Ground)

That Grounding Lug you have is not suitable for multiple Ground wires. there are (2) types you can use they are easy to make if you can't buy them.

Your VFD Drive and its Mounting Plate, also needs to be Grounded to this Grounding Bus, Plus your Spindle Ground.

You most likely will need an EMI Power Filter, I recommend this TDK Lambda EMI Power Filter RSEN-2030 this has to be mounted as close to the VFD Drives input Power Supply as Possible

Vfd is now attached to the ground as is spindle.
Thank you very much for the input. I'll look up that filter.

Very interesting that my ground lug isn't suitable. I literally have a spare one sitting on top of my sub panel like the one you suggest. Being my lug is one piece what is the issue if simply explained? What about just using the 1/4-20 bolt I have passed through the back plate?

I'm going to add a 32amp breaker between 220 on and solid state relays.

    Thank you again.

    MI Power Filter RSEN-2030

You have RSEN-2030 it is missing the L on the end this is for low leakage and should be the type used for this installation.

Intermittent issues are normally from Ground Problems, or incorrect Shield Grounding of the VFD to Spindle Cable.
