7i76E; How to properly turn on?

    Hello. I am wondering:
1)How to properly turn the 7i76E on, or switch it.
    2) Is there a proper sequence to start 7i76E, stepper drivers, linuxcnc... Just fire it all up at once?

At the moment I am testing the 7i76E with a bench power supply. I have it wired so that 24V goes into the orange TB1, then it jumps over to TB3 nearby to provide for the 5v side of things. I understand (possibly incorrectly) that you're not supposed to switch the DC24v in.

So, how are you supposed to turn it on?

Flicking on the bench supply has not caused any problems. I have tested successfully this way. I will eventually have this coming from a 36v power supply, stepped down to 24v. The switch will be on the AC side of the power supply.

I am new to electronics, but have gotten to the point of motion on my steppers. That has to count for something...

Have you tried contacting Mesa? Peter is usually really good at helping folks who've bought his products and usually gets back quite quickly.

As long as you switch the AC side you should be fine.

In general its not a good idea to switch DC supplies
to electronic equipment with mechanical switches
due to the large surge currents created charging
    the bypass capacitors.

You need to power on the 7i76e before you start linuxcnc.
If you power it off overnight and leave the pc on, just restart linuxcnc after power up of the mesa card. No need to reboot
