    smooth steeper

    I'm building a new controller for my K2cnc I'm starting with a USB smooth stepper USS. I bought a C25 smooth steeper terminal board . I'm using Gecko drive 320x.
    The controller board is working fine I'm using mack3 the computer is connected to the BOB. If I turn the power on trip the reset for the driver the motor starts working
    and doesn't stop . I"ve doubled checked all my wiring I feel like it could be a setting in Mach3?
    My second question is on the c25 bob witch terminals are step and witch is direction?

    Read ALL manuals before doing anything else.
    If you're wiring looks correct then it could be usb noise.
    USB smoothstepper is obsolete. Where did you get it from?.
    Likely a Chinese copy if it's supposedly new.

    Show your wiring diagram you have so far.

    Need to wait until on pc to have a good look at boards pdf's.

    So. It does look like warp9 still makes it so I'm wrong there.
    But it does state Not recommended for new builds

    Quick look suggests the easiest way for you is to wire it as common gnd.
    So on the C25 take the 5v GND (like in diagram next to pin9)
    https://www.cnc4pc.com/pub/media/pro...inan2ess_1.pdf
    But instead of going into pul-/dir- driver pins of a stepper drive it will just go into common terminal 12 on the Gecko320x.
    https://www.geckodrive.com/amfile/fi...product_id/21/
    This puts drive in correspondance to C25 itself for it's collector.

    Next for signals. Example if X axis will be P2 = step & P3 = dir.
    P2 into step terminal 11
    P3 into direction terminal 10

    Follow this same pattern through to the rest of the axis drives.
    This process above puts axis as active high (common cathode) opposed to active low (common anode).

    Now tell USS which pins on which port you have used. Should now work as they should.

    Then for your limit switches etc you can power them from the 5V+ pins on the C25 and send the GND to the inputs (active low).

    on the c25 bob I only have port 1 and port 2 after following your direction I did have my grd in the right terminal just not sure about step and dir

    Generally I'd wire it as below for up to 5 axis:
    Port#1
    P2 = X step
    P3 = X Dir
    P4 = Y step
    P5 = Y Dir
    P6 = Z step
    P7 = Z Dir
    P8 = A step
    P9 = A Dir
    P14 = B step
    P16 = B Dir

    On each specific driver:
    All step signals to Terminal 11
    All Direction signals to terminal 10
    All GND to Terminal 12 (commom).
    The common can all go into a single GND terminal on C25 in parallel connection.
    This means step direction signals are positive (active high).

    Normally I'd use P1 on bob as enable but as the Gecko doesn't have one you could use it as VFD FOR.
    Then P17 as your PWM to your analogue converter board.

    Or then again you could use Pins 1-9 & 14 for the 5 axis
    Then 16,17 for VFD.
    Entirely your choice because you can just tell Mach which port/pin you are using for each specific item.

    That about covers port 1 exxcept for wiriing of input swiitches.
    Use 5V terminals on C25 to power them all, through the switch, back to input (NPN, low).
    I'd possibly get a seperate isolator board that runs 5v in and 24v out. Then use that to run my switches at 24v because 5v can be more suseptable to EM noises.
    But see how it goes as it is.

    Then use port 2 for C axis tool changer / relays & other ancilliaries etc. Or even seperate home switches if you have a dual Y axis.

    thanks for the help everything you have explained I've Done This is where i started out at
    Whats happening is I touch the err jumper the motor starts if I leave the wire connected the motor keeps running but stops when I push the x axis

    I don’t understand why warp9 continues to sell that USB board when they don’t provide win10 and higher drivers. I liked the board but now it sits in a drawer.
