Experiments in moving gantry design (Al, steel & epoxy granite)

    Hi All,
So a long time ago I started making a weird gantry. Thought some might get a kick from seeing how it went together.
It's a composite aluminium, steel and epoxy-granite beam, with cast Al endplates.

The machine's not really finished yet so loads more testing is needed.
So far it's looking good

PS I could really do with some advice about ballscrew protecting for this setup. I have bodged up a wiper for the rotating ball nuts of the long axis, using a glue gun 'casting type method...But it's very temporary. Am thinking the way forward will be to cover the whole thing, but how?

Thank's Pippin, yeah I need to spend some time sealing up all the ballscrews etc before I dare do much more cutting, of metals at least...
