    Cool Gorton 3-48 Milling machine

Hey, anyone out there have a Gorton 3-48 milling machine? I have one and it's a monster! 8000lbs and 72" table. thinking of changing table to ballscrew perhaps?

    Gorton 2-30

I've got one of its baby brothers.

    X-axis travel 36", table length 54". #40 taper spindle.

Nice machines, built well. The power feed knee is a must!

Yes, for sure! it's a bit heavy to crank!
I bought mine for cheap but had to get the vertical drive bevel gear made so that wasn't so cheap, but machine works well. In the process of making up the overarm supports as they too were lost while the machine sat.

    Replacement parts

I don't what their status is as of today, but a year and a half ago, we needed to make some major repairs to the power feed transmission.

At that time Gorton was still around and sold parts for our machine. We bought some parts from them, others were insanely priced so we made them.

I tried a few places, cant remember who it was but they did have parts just not for my monster, hoping someone out there may know of something.

If not i'll continue manufacturing them, but would be nice to have the originals!

Came across one of these Gorton 3-48 machines for sale in MI recently...
Odd enough to be a difficult sell, but I can try to get information on it. Owner would probably be open to an offer.
