the company brought a second hand crashed Mori Seiki SL250-1683 with an MSC-501 controller a while ago, the restoration is going well but we have had a few issues.

in normal mode
- x-axis and turret won't move and the
- z-axis will only move if its zero position is set to invalid in the diagnostics menu
- The TRCL light is blinking
- Live tooling axis hasn't worked since getting the machine.

We have tried
- setting the Soft stops to 999999999, this didn't help with anything.

- setting the machine to field service mode by pressing feed hold and cycle start with the key in the edit panel
position, then flipping the APZ and APC bits for Parameter 1815 for the T, X and Z axis to 0 then back to 1 before cycling power to the machine (we did this multiple tests only editing 1 bit at a time)
-- while in service mode we were able to home, rotate and lock/unlock the turret manually however this didn't carry over when we set the machine back to normal mode.
-- this helped with Z initially but eventually, it stopped working in normal mode.
-- this didn't help with the x-axis at all

- Testing the encoders by winding the axis by hand to see if the position would update, they seemed to be working
fine.

- testing the servos (i don't know how they did it but apparently they are working fine)

- we think the batteries work as it remembers its position and parameters from last night and we are not getting a
low battery error.

we are out of ideas for what to try next, apparently, the machine has had some of these issues in the past but nobody remembers how they fixed them if anyone has any experience with this machine or something similar id really appreciate to hear what issues are likely to cause something like this and how i could go about sorting them out.
