IF you have thought about having AUX buttons to do functions check out this USB emulator board. IT emulates a std keyboard so PP thinks it is a keyboard. The buttons you assign as a hotkey so pressing the button is exactly like clicking on the screen with the mouse. REMEMBER GameBoys push a mouse but REAL chipslingers press buttons. (;-) I do hope you have a sense of humor (;-)

RED = stop
GREEN = CycleStart
Yellow = Feedhold
Blue = coolant
White = spindle

JUST like the big boys.

There are even wiring harnesses so it could be very easy to wire up. Also it does NOT use keymatrix connections and the associated problem with that.

I built something very similar out of a Teensy microcontroller a few years back. My Blue does air blast (through an external solenoid) but other than that, very similar mapping!
(Of course I made the case and whatnot on the actual mill.)
Nice to see someone did the software work so someone who's not into that can just have some cake!

We are also testing using keyboard macros to do functions like alt_enter to enter MDI mode then o<test_sub> call to run the test sub. This will automate some functions down to a single button push. NOW that is the machine working for ME.
