Hi,
well bassically ya I'm quite new to all of this, usually i am able to figure it out myself when i come into problems, but im stuck on this one.

Im trying to get a file from autocad, to open in mastercam so i can create toolpaths and an .nc file

What i want to be able to do is take a .jpg file and engrave it onto a piece of wood. I have used corel draw to get the .jpg file to convert to an autocad file, but now im stuck in trying to get it onto mastercam

I thought that all i had to do was make the cad file a .dxf, then open mastercam>file>converters>then open a dxf file and it would bring it onto the mastercam screen. and well im doing htat, but then the mastercam screen stays black. all i am trying to change is a simple 2d box that i created, soo im wondering if that is the problem.

Im quite stuck here, any help would be greatly appriciated

Ed what version of MC are you using?

I am having the same problem, using CS5 Illustrator to convert a jpeg to dxf for use in Mastercam X4, and it shows up blank in Mastercam

what is the software conversion syntax?

Mastercam art will use a raster file and convert to vector geometry, with some trials,testing with the settings, it's too easy.
