Fanuc O-M Leadwell CNC mill 086 P/S alarm

    Hi guys

I'm trying to load a program for the first time to my Fanuc O-M using NC link.
I keep getting this error 086 P/S Alarm.
A bit of history on the machine, the Parameters had to be reloaded some time ago so maybe this has something to do with it??
Are there any parameters i should look for and check for uploading programs?
Using an RS 232 cable, USB to 25 pin connector.
I basically press send on the PC then read on the machine and pops up with the error. Same with Punch.

I've been trying to get this machine running for a while with little success.

    Thanks guys
    Hope someone can help.

    Sounds like parameters.
Hopefully you had a accurate options file to enable Reader/Puncher interface and its just a matter of getting the comms parameters set.
There are a few involved with serial communication. They need to be set to match your DNC software.
    A parameter manual would help.
Some settings are found on the "Settings" screen as well as in parameters (ISO, Channel, and TVC).
The most basic Parameters associated with communication.
    0000 ISO,TVC
    0020 Device selection (0 = RS232 port 1. most common setting)
    0101 SB2,NFD, ASI
    0102 Device type (4 = RS232 DC1 to DC4 not used. Most common setting)
0103 Baud rate (must be set to match PC setting)

Thank you. I'll try finding these settings in parameters. I can get to parameters and enable. I'll try finding these specific settings you outlined. I might even take some pictures.????

Parameter manual would be great but the technician who worked on this machine 4 months ago hasn't returned my manual after calling him so many times. But that's another issue unfortunately ????

Just a couple pictures. Make sure we're on the same page.
    Hope this makes sense

those are the areas.. The setting values haven't changed much from one series to another. If you have another manual to reference.

I think the cable is good. It's a new cable.
The error occurs as soon as I press read then input.

Unfortunately I don't have the manual. I'll have a look at another manual I do have but I think it's more about electrical diagrams etc

    Hi,
I assume you have a USB - 9 pin modem cable with the correct 9 pin to 25 pin adapter, there's no USB to 25 pin cable !!
When all hardware and software settings are correct it should work.
Btw. to prevent problems with your switches below your screen buy yourself a (cheap) new keypad membrane at FANUC for the 7 keys.
Even the keypad membranes [ PROGRAM - SOURCE ] - [ OPERATION SELECT ] etc. ect. for the FANUC 0M control are still for sale.
They are a few hundred dollars but it will pimp up your machine a lot.

    Regards,

can you post a photo with the cable:
can you confirm that the 9-25 pin adaptor is corect for Fanuc controller?

Re: Fanuc O-M Leadwell CNC mill 086 P/S alarm

    Ok,
So initially this was started with a lose of parameters.
And now it was mentioned that a new cable is being used.
This adds a definite spin on to what the issue could be.

The cable on the left of the 2 images provided is what I would go with.
Additionally there is a 50/50 chance that pins 2 and 3 on the db25 end may need to be swapped. If the cable is a sealed cable this can be achieved by purchasing a null modem end.
This can (in addition to parameter settings) cause an 086 alarm.

Re: Fanuc O-M Leadwell CNC mill 086 P/S alarm

Yes, lose of parameters, then reloaded but i couldn't get the tool changer to work which is where it started. I had a technician look at the machine and tried to work out parameter issues for the tool changer not working. He took my service book with the parameters over 4 months ago and he hasn't returned it after calling him so many times. This is an issue i will fix soon as but im very pissed about that.
So i kind of gave up on the tool changer and just wanted to load a program and this is where i am now. If I can just get the program loaded ill be happy.
I have a 25 pin on CNC side and USB on PC side

The cable is actually 25 pin male, then goes to 9 pin female which has USB adapterClick image for larger version.
