I have an older TL-1 without enclosure inside a climate controlled room. I turn lots of steel and using flood coolant. The TL-1 has been turning lots of 9.5" Slugs of 1045 and doing fairly decent, however, I'm looking for something with better coolant containment and tool changer.

The TL-1 has a 10" Bison Set Tru on it that handles the 9.5" OD Slugs. Will a ST-10 handle a 10" Chuck ?

The TL-1 is only an 1800 RPM machine, direct drive of course. The ST-10 is a 6000 RPM machine. I wonder if the ST-10 will handle these at 250 RPM ? It has twice the HP but not sure it has the torque. The TL-1 handles them all day at 230 RPM and 0.050" DOC running at 100% spindle load.

I hate to get a machine in here that won't do what I need. Opinions?
