Hey guys!
I have purchased a 3KW square ER20 air cooled spindle, with a maximum of 18.000 RPM, to use in my CNC router machine.
But i ended up using another spindle for the cnc router, this time water-cooled, and as time passed i can't return the ER20 3kW anymore.
I was wondering if i could use this spindle for a lathe, reducing the rpm and increasing the torque with Aluminum GT2 gears and a belt, to achieve a max of 3K rpm in the lathe chuck. But would this be possible? Isn't 18.000 RPM too much for these gears? How can I achieve this successfuly? or do i need another motor (servo, for example) for this application?
Thank you for your answers!
