Avenger 250MT - resolver kicked bucket - options

    Hi all,

First time writer, long time reader - Please be gentle
I got a 96 Avenger 250MT w/Acramatic 850SX. I've been getting the dreadful 00431;00430;00453 errors. Not in that sequence. I'm pretty sure it's the resolver.
Do I have options to get a new one aftermarket? Fives said the PN is not being manufactured anymore
    Machine killer??
I'm not using the C axis very much so is there a way to bypass the C axis on the machine and just make it a 2 axis machine X&Z?

Or if anybody has a new idea.... I'm all ears

    Absolutely,

Here is a pic of the spindle on the machine and a little history:

Warming up the machine in the morning and in about .5hr into it I got a 00431 error.
Shut down machine, wiggled some wires/cables unplugged plugs from the resolver to amplifier and amplifier to machine board.
Reboot machine it starts giving me a 00453.
After talking to Fives numerous times he said:
    1- doesn't know the machine
2- the resolver is not manufactured anymore Reference Resolver Part Number, 3-424-2094A ( H.1018.2294).
3- I'm still waiting for answers how to "get rid of C axis"

He did supply me with a PDF(that I can't seem to upload due to size) that showed me a bypass that gets plugged into the plug that goes from the amplifier to the machine board (pictured).
I plugged it in and now the machine gives me a 00431-which after talking to a new guru on these machines (different company) told me that the machine is looking for "homing C axis" and since there is bypass I'm trying to find out how to make the machine not know that there is a C axis.

In another words I'm only using the C axis about 5% of the programs. I can part with it for now. Is there a way to have the machine not know that it doesn't have the C axis anymore for now.

Thank you for listening to my problems :-)

I have a few resolvers kicking around, they are made by Tamagawa Japan, I have no spec's on them.

Do they look anything like the one pictured?
Do you know what machine they came off of?

Try to contact Greg Wood on this site, he may have a solution. Maybe you could use the spindle motor encoder??. The original feedback was from Heidenhain Corporation (847) 490-1191, you should contact them. You should put a scope on the feedback and see what the problem is and clean it. This has been a problem on this lathe and I am sure someone has a solution.

Al_The_Man - I see the units that you have and I will contact you if there is a way I can use those. My machine uses one that is on mounted on the spindle itself and it's about 10" diameter with a hole in the middle for the spindle to go through. I'm going to need more brains than I have for now to make those work but if I can get someone to guide me....
Thank you I'll let you know

meckardt55 - I reached out to a "gwood". I hope that's the right person and I will contact the Haidenhain Corp.
    Thank you for your input
