Do you mean EMC for Linux?

NEATman
Hmmm...
that's a Machine Controller Software, not a communication sw. Maybe contain some communication features, but it's not exactly what I looking for.
Now I use DNC Server from I-Logic http://www.i-logic.com/dncserver.htm
It's a wonderful and reliable product, but next month we will migrate the shopfloor PC to Ubuntu and I need an equivalent solution.
In any case, many thanks to you.
Just out of curiosity:
What is the reason for moving to linux on the shopfloor PC when you have a system that you are currently happy with?
Predator (http://www.predator-software.com/dnc.htm) clams it acts as a 'gateway' between CNCs and multiple flavors of servers, including GNU/Linux.
Not sure that means it will run on a GNU/Linux machine, but I'd ask them... they have an excellent system.
Or...
Run "Wine" (http://www.winehq.org/) on the Ubuntu box, that might still allow you to use your existing Windows software.
'Might', because Wine uses native calls instead of Windows'; I don't know for certain if it supports I/O calls...
But, Wine is free... I'd load it into Ubuntu, and try your existing software through it first.
Where I work we have 4 PC on carts used to upload files into the machines.
They are all old Boxes still running W95 and a older version of Preditor.
None of the machines are actualy run in DNC mode. (Almost all are Lathes)
I'm sure it would not take too much to write a Linux version of something like the old Procomm program.
(and I also run 2 Ubuntu boxes here at home.)
easyDnc now runs on Ubuntu linux.
We just did a port of the easyDnc software from Windows to Linux and MacOS
http://www.dnc-x.com
We're the software authors but (for linux) it's free software so I hope the mods don't think we're spamming the forum.
Someone suggested me in CNCZone about minicomm. This is the software, part of Linux system.
At Command Prompt type minicomm.
The software will start working.

I downloaded easyDnc but I'm having many problems in the communication. The serial port is well configured but the "Port Scan" and the manual configuration of the port don't work. When I open other communication softwares like minicomm the CNC detects a signal, but with easyDnc it cannot detect a signal. Can you help me?
