Generate an alarm signal, during an improperly placed workpiece..!

Hello, I am Govind from Bangalore, India.
I have a production related issues on our CNC machines.

When the CNC operator does not keep the work-piece material properly on the machine bed or worktable,
the machine simply runs and the time get wasted. After realizing the mistake, the operator keeps it properly
and re-run the machine. It happens especially during night shift, and the production capacity affects.

Is there any solution (programming or sensor related) to avoid such mistakes?
If the work-piece material is improperly placed on the machine bed or worktable,
the machine should give an alarm signal (warning) to the operator, so that he can immediately rectify it.
How to achieve this? Any practical solution for this problem? Thanks in advance.

Operators get complacent...... sack 'im,..... make the others take notice ...... just kiddin'

try a probing cycle, if improperly placed, then the gauging would fail
    - what about a setup gauge that can be placed to verify a certain condition is met...ie a length gauge set to the length of stick-out ( in a lathe) instead of using a rule ( take away the chance of a mis-read )

What type of machines are you using? Do they have probes? If not, do they have capability to moniotr servo load? If you can probe, then macro a message to use #3000 to alarm machine out. Most swiss machines do not have probes so they have internal g-codes to test servo load. Most mills have options for Renishaw probes to achieve the same thing. Superman, is once again spot on!

    Hello Superman & chunkymonkey,

Thank you & very kind of you for your swift reply.
Let me put my issues, very precisely now.

We use Manford CNC Bed Type Milling Machine - Tontec Technology.
    Model No : Manford - VM1100 / VM1000.
You can view its specifications in the below URL.

    MANFORD MACHINERY CO.,LTD.

We run 3 shifts in a day. When the tool bit looses contact with the workpiece,
the CNC machine simply runs. During this time, we want to generate an
alarm (alert) signal & stop the machine automatically, if possible.

We would like to monitor or measure, how much time is wasted in a day for this?
Looking to improve the production capacity with best cost-effective solutions.

How can this be achieved. Can it be done with program alone or any
external hardware is required? Thanks in advance.

I have no idea what you mean by "tool bit loses contact with the workpiece".....
... could be bad stock size .... wrong time in the process to find bad material....should have been sorted beforehand
... could be bad programming, not efficient enough.....always an ongoing exercise
... mis-loaded... guide & teach operators... give them ownership for good parts, as well as the bad parts... let them come up with some suggestions
... mis-loaded... put a check cycle at the beginning of the program that the operators must cycle thru before cutting a part.... ie a wooden pencil that goes to each corner & waits for a cycle start
---- ( operator acknowledges that the point is within specification, before continuing to the next corner )
