Measure surface height - DRO not being set.

    Hi all,
I am having issues with measuring the surface height using a 3 way edge finder. The plate is 10.24mm thick and I have entered this value into Work Position/Measure Height, Size Z. When I select Machine, Measure, Surface Height - the Z axis moves down until contact is made with the plate, reverse up, moves down at lower speed, contacts plate and returns to preset height. The DRO is not set automatically in this operation to the plate thickness.
Has anyone experienced the same issues and what might be the cause of the issue.

    Thanks in advance.
    Steve

This command does not set offset. Use "Machine/Work Position/Measure Height" instead
