Question port and pin settings not saved?

I am a newbi to the scene an making my experiences with Mach3 R2.41 trial version. I have two problems that I would like to describe.

First of all I am testing the pin port settings and got so far that the driver engine gets signals (I can see that because I got a physical LED testing machine) the LED are working (on or flashing depending of what I do) also the engine gets an impulse I can feel that- only it does not move!!!
As if the were no repetitve stepping signals... can someone answer this question?

The second quesstion is more easy to imagine. All the settings in the pin and port adjustments go constantly lost when I close the program even if i click save settings in the config tab afterwards. Anybody knows and solved this problem???

    Thx

Make sure your Mach3mill.xml is not set to read only.
