Low price simple 2D cad program

    Hello
I´m looking for a low price 2D CAD program to draw simple designs directly on the laser machine computer, the only requirement is that its possible to first draw the design and then dimension it, like in Solid works and Fusion 360.
    Is there such a program?

    Hi,
Fusion is free to hobbyists and startups, would that not do?

Fusion is great and we already have a license for that but it's not suitable for the slow pc on the laser cutter.
I haven't tried deltacad but both libre and qcad seem to not have the dimensioning capability, I have to specify startpoint and endpoint and so on and I I don't think that is so beginner friendly as I also want to recommend this program when we sell our cheap plasma cutting tables to complete beginners that just want to fast and easy draw simple shapes.

It doesn't have to be free, 100-200usd would also be ok.
And if there is a sheet metal module to add it would also be great.

hy jeybee i have created 2d cads, definetly not requiring high computers

i can make it suit your desire is not that kinky, just in a technicall manner ...

as for the computational cost of actual systems, that is not real a need .... among the way, someone made sure that cam's require hardware; it is market move / kindly

I also tried Freecad which seem to have the dimensioning capability.

Probably your best option at the moment would be Solid Edge 2D Drafting - link

It is free for both commercial and noncommercial use.

What you're asking for is called a "parametric CAD", which means you're looking for SolveSpace. Free, open source, small single exe file, easy to use. Draw shape, apply constraints, when degrees of freedom goes down to zero you're done. Don't let the "3D" scare you - it can do that nicely, but you never have to leave your 2D workplane if you don't want to.

hy jeeybee, as not being able to reply to you on private, i will do it here

in the end, everybody does speed up, but only a few, not all, are being stoped by the police

you can always use a remote terminal, that you simply disconect from if needed, and also use network to send programs to the machines; the source is no longer in the phisical shop. If configured properly, the time window to use it, is shorter than editing programs near the machine panel.

    the key is configuration

as to what you may need, it possible that i allready have it, or at least the basics ; can also make it particular to your demands / kindly
