    Denford Cyclone P Fanuc OT

    Hi,
I have a problem with my Denford Cyclone Lathe. It has Fanuc OT.
The Z axis will not reference Zero.. when the axis dog touches the first slow down switch it alarms out and says Z axis overtravell.
I tried pressing the switch by hand before the dog reached it and now it will only go to the position it stopped at which is around 150mm away from the switch!
Just can't get it to move past this position...
    The X axis zeroes fine!!

    Thanks for any help guys..
    John.

Have you tried the old P-CAN trick? Hold the P and CAN keys in while turning on the control. Keep them held in until it's finished firing up. Then try the zero return.

Ok thanks dcoupar I will try this, I'm new to OT having only used 6M/T before.
How does this solve the problem..does it reset the limit switches..?

Get on to Gefanuc and buy a manual.About £50 IIRC.It will be money well spent in time to come. They sometimes pop up on Ebay. Also guys selling manuals on cd`s on Ebay, cheap but I don`t know if they`re any good.If you search the net for fanuc you will turn up very similar sounding websites, beware as these guys just order the manual from the genuine Fanuc and mark it up.The real one is in Milton Keynes.

Thanks Mark I think I will need it!!
Managed to get the lathe zeroed now on the Z axis..I wound it to the stop by hand whilst the machine was switched off then powered up and found it zeroed first time...?
Ran a program and it worked fine...not sure why this should fix the fault..?
    Any ideas

That works sometimes. On most industrial machines it is difficult to access the motors/screws to turn them by hand.I have three lathes with OT`s on them and all the manuals.Touch wood these controls never give me problems.I do not programme, well only enough to check a repair. My son programmes I repair. If you have specific questions PM or email me and I will scan the relevant parts of a manual but they are too big to scan the whole lot.Where in the UK are you?

The "P Can trick" will tell the machine to ignore the Soft overtravel limits set up in parameters. This will allow the machine to actually reach the limit switch and properly home out.
