Okuma axis motor question and error code

Hi. My Z axis motor got hit hard enough to fracture the motor end cover. Although the encoder looks OK, I am getting an error "065 ALARM P" "SVP start 1021A08"
It also says Memory Test OK, Load SYS

then: EC PROCESSOR ON INITIAL PROCESS
    SERVO PROCESSOR ON INITIAL PROCESS
    SBP MONITOR
    >_

Can anyone tell me if this is likely due to the encoder or some other cause?
I was looking at used encoders and it seems almost the same price to buy the whole motor including encoder, plus it hasn't been pulled apart.

The part number on my motor is BL-MH101E-12SB
Can anyone tell me if there is a difference (that matters) with a BL-MH101E-12S ?
    Both are 1200rpm, 6 pole, 155v, 5A, 1.2KW and have same encoder, ABS-FB-D2048
Also, are any other the newer encoders directly interchangeable?

    Thank you,
    Bryan

The Okuma axis motor has an absolute encoder.
It's possible it's damaged and not communicating.
Swap encoder input cable with another drive and see if the fault moves with the cable.

Thanks for the reply. I ordered another encoder to swap.
I also determined the -SB suffix is servo with brake. Shouldafigured that one out!

New(er) encoder did the trick. Machine started up and ran well! Very exciting!
