Halfway through a new plasma build.
Not sure how unique this is but essentially the machine is a crawling gantry that houses all the electronics/motors/computer interface.
The body of the machine is a 6 inch by 2 inch length of aluminum extrusion square tube about 5 feet in length. (I want to be able to have a true cutting footprint of 8X10 feet.
The plan thus far is to have the gantry(X) and the Y and Z axis all in one and just two cables (plus the plasma cable) coming from the unit. This would be power to the unit and an ethernet connection to communicate via SmoothStepper.
I prototyped parts from discarded acrylic and other material to avoid wasted time and material along the way as I knew I would as always re-design as I learned a better way to do things as I progressed.
So far.....
