    renishaw MP9 reciever

A Renishaw MP9 probe followed me home from the auction. The probe has an optical transmitter. The receiver sold with the milling machine to somebody else.

    Here's an overall idea

Is it possible to get a reciever for this from a source other than original vendor? (big $ there)

Consider making your own. Ultimately you need a relay contact to your CNC.

Are the probe LEDs IR or visible?
Are they on continuously on until probe makes contact? Or do they turn on on contact? The later is not as reliable a method but uses less battery energy.
Could it be the the LEDs are modulated at some frequency? Maybe freq is changed to signal contact? A changed frequency at contact might be the most fail safe method.

The MP9's I'm familiar with turn on when rotated at 50 RPM's. the turn off automatically after a couple of minutes of non-use. Also, they use IR.

Have you tried Ebay? With some luck you can get it for much less.
