Ideas needed: How to mount linear rails to a 2" diameter tube?

    Greetings!

I have to get this finished. I started this at the start of C19. And I hit a roadblock and it just sits there:-) This is a large scale CNC for clay printing. I am using 2" diameter aluminum I beams.

I am going to use for the Z axis a 1500mm SBR20 rail. (The base dimensions is 45mm wide with the screw holes 30mm apart)

I don't have any metal machining access. I do 3D print.

For my X Gantry I will use 2 HGR20 Linear Guide Rail 20mm wide.

So I am trying to figure out the best way to mount these to the 50mm diameter round surface.

    Any suggestions?

Why not use an aluminum I-beam instead of the round tube? It will have flat surfaces you can mount rails to.

Well I already have the Ibeam and a 6 foot Truss, about $500. and their tubes are 50mm round. I'm looking for a way to mount these.

If the truss has two parallel round members you should be able to attach a flat aluminum plate that spans them, and mount your rails to that.

Well Disney - Seems you have two directions:
    1) get something thats flat and start again....
    2) print a bracket thats flat to suit the rail and round to suit the truss and screw them together.. good luck Peter

    Peter!

At least for the linear rail, I did design and print some half moons with sockets for the rail. I think that should work for the X axis gantry. Still not sure about the SBR20 . There will be much more force on those. We will see, I don't have the rails yet.

    Thanks!
