After some thoughts or possible explanations i can check or ......

The steel is 40mm Dia , grade 1050 medium-carbon steel, sticking out from the 3 jaw chuck at about 160mm
I have tried all sorts of feeds and speeds , Carbide inserts at various combinations. But still chattering marks at the first 40 mm from the end.

Your machine is not rigid enough for that cut. Try less DOC first, less feed. One trick that works for me is to use inserts made for AL. They actually have positive rake and less cut force. do not last as well though.

    Thanks for the replies.

Actually was the opposite case. ie i was taking too small of cut.

Figured it out , messed around with few more feeds ands speeds doc etcAttachment 493122

Ended up nice at 1.6mm depth of cut with 120 sfc m/min 0.16 feed
the results like mirror finish, im sure i can push it a lot harder then this. but will do me for now.

the only problem the conversational programing on the fagor 8055 is little light on for options so now i need to
figure out how to transfer files into it...That way i can use fusion 360 to refine the process.

Theres a serial port so im sure i can but i cant find any menus on the screen that show DNC or import etc

Anyone know much about the fagor 8055tc ? in particular transfer files into it ? i have looked at the manuals i have and says nothing about importing files or gcode etc
heres a photo of the screen ....
