I have a KURODA GE 15-10 ballscrew ballnut combination. I need to turn the ballnut around so the flange is facing the other way. What is the procedure for removing and replacing the ballnut without ending up with the balls rolling around on the floor?

In the picture in link notice the carton tube, find one that has similar/same diameter of your ballscrew, and rotate the nut onto the tube. Check also the second link to see what i mean.

Hi guys..

I am going to look for a ball screw for my router. I have not purchased the motor yet but I want to complete the ball screw first before moving on to the motor.

1. I am thinking of using 12mm diameter ballscrew. Pitch will be around 5 to 10mm lead. If I can get 5mm lead is better but slower.

The question is, do you think 12mm diameter is strong enough?
Do I need larger diameter? The max length is only 32inches.

Here is a little information for the required length

For X = 34 inches
For Y = 26.5 inches
For Z = 13 inches

Strong enough yes, will it whip at high RPMs is the questions.

A 12mm diameter should be fine on those spans. However, it all depends on what you want your feed rate to be. With a 5mm lead, if your feed rate is somewhere around 100-150 inches per minute (254-381 cm per minute), then that diameter will be fine. However, if you are wanting high feed rates like 250 IPM (635 cm per minute) then you may need a larger diameter, but would still probably be fine as your unsupported span is even less than 32 inches.

I have a link to a chart that references RPM vs allowable lead screw length and diameter, but I can't find it. When I do, I'll post with a more definite answer.

At the moment, I can only use 12mm screw for the Z axis as the space for the lead nut is limited.
