Hello All!

I've been tasked with creating a surface and machine it, given a formula. Its relatively simple, kind of like a 16.5 inch satelite dish or 16.5" reflector for a really big flashlight. Can this be generated directly in MasterCAM? I'm going to do it in AutoCAD this weekend, if I can't do it directly in mcam.

For those of you that just want to try;
Y = 2 * SQRT( 6 * X ) -8.25 </= X </= 8.25

And you need to draw the surface? Why don't you go directly to G code?

Is a simple program in Basic, or a Excel worksheet copy-paste formula.


Just for fun, I will try to do it in MasterCAM, also.

P.D. I have a 18" parabolic mirror, with 9" focal length. For $250 + shipping is yours. It would be pretty nice as a flashlamp.

There is a c-hook in mastercam called fplot.dll it should do the surfaces for this equation. when in mastercam hold down ALT key hit C on the keyboard this will get you there.
