Hi Everybody,

I have done my Master thesis with HSM: " Optimization the Ra (surface finish) due to changing V,S,t,R. But I can not find out any good HSM book for my basic theory. Only get HSM by download the very short researchs on Google.

Pls let me know the difference between HSM and CNC conventional in Ra,V,S,t,R.

I can download tutorial 2,3 and 5.pdf only, others can not, which study in Chatter/ Dynamics of High Speed Machining. It is different of mine in Optimization the cutting conditions when considering the affect of V,S,t,D (tool) to the surface finish (Ra) by experimental reseach. Thanks.

Yes,toolpath strategy is also very important to HSM, but it will be researched later,so toolpath is different of my reseach right now.

I forcus on Optimisation for Surface finish Ra when consider the affect of spindle rpm, feedrate, depth of cut, tool diameter only.

In next 3 months, I will do the experimental stage with Mikron machine (model: HSM 600) with different cutting conditions,then I measure the surface-finish correspond to those conditions by the optical Ra measurement device.

Finally I used the theory of total experimentation to get the formular of
Ra = F (feedrate, depth of cut, tool diameters)?. That is what I need to solve now.

Are you familiar with all the research into surface finish LLNL did in diamond turning? They answered all the questions you are attempting to solve now.

Predicting surface finish is a matter of asynchronous error in the sensitive axis combined with tool sharpness. All your proposed measuring conditions change either the asynchronous error of the system or the apparent edge of the tool.
