I put some 5/16 D2 plates in the draw down oven after heat treating and than forgot about them. Total time at 400 degrees was about 4 hours. Are the plates ruined?

How much lower is the hardness, than what you were trying to get?

Well we just checked them and they are at 60 rockwell. I think we were shooting for 62 so they are not as bad as I thought they would be. This is the 2ed time that I've done this.
Thanks
Yea, I remember the time I forgot to remove a 420ss plate from the oven at 1870deg - it was in for 10hrs not 1 hr like it should have been.
I did not need to ask if the plate was any good, it nearly disinigrated!
I doubt your plate suffered much from its long draw, if 60rc is acceptable I would think it to be just fine.
