Excellent to finally see some more interest in the Dallas area.

Lets pick a date/place to meet up. Along the 635/75 area works. I know there are lots of places to eat up at.

How about we start with picking a day. I suggest a Thursday July 16 7:00pm.

Now we just need to pick a place.

Any suggestions as to where? I'm guessing a round table or something.

Since I do most of my designing at my work, I travel with a laptop. I can at least share some designs that I have with those that are interested.

    Lets make this happen

Having the initial meeting as soon as possible would mean we'd have a nice core group to work with as we invite more people, so I'd suggest moving that date up a week to the 9th if we've got enough people already. Should we PM everyone who's posted in this thread to give them a heads up?

As far as the 75 / 635 area goes, at Preston there's Chili's, India Palace, Fuji Steakhouse, Goff's Hamburgers, Spring Creek BBQ, Opa Grille (Greek), and Roasters and Toasters or something that's only open till 3:30 PM.

Valley View and the surrounding area has a lot of places including everything in the mall that's probably too crowded, but there's a few different places around it including Jersey Mikes Subs.

Coit & 635 just has a few fast food restaurants, I think.

Forest & 75 has Luna De Noche, Asian Mint, Dickey's BBQ, and several fast food options, a few fast casual options like Chipolte, Boston Market, and Schlotzsky's. Apparently, the Black Eyed Pea recently closed.

Spring Valley & 75 has a lot of options including IHOP, Bone Daddy's BBQ (This is sort of Hooter's style including lots of short-shorts), Razoos, and El Chicos.

I think 635 and Greenville has an Olive Garden and a few other places.

Spring creek sounds good. I don't recall it being overly crowded and it has big tables.

    The 9th works for me.

I guess one of us can bring some sort of an item to place on the table to indicate its the group. I've got a spare router I could use as a table center piece.

Works for me. I'll go ahead and post a meeting thread on Joes CNC forums, and message the local guys the details there too. Are you going to PM all the people from this thread?

ND guys: I can't make the meeting but I will open an invitation to our North Texas shop where we design, build and test the CandCNC controls. We have several production CNC machines setup including a CNC plasma cutter. I also have sold several of the "Joe's Special" which is all of the electronics for one of the builds. I have tried several times to setup a 3 day training seminar on how to take a project (router or plamsa) from concept to cut but my schedule this last year was brutal.

We don't sell the mechanical parts but we do provide electronics for vendors that build tables. I have taught classes on using CorelDraw, DXFTool, SheetCAM and MACH. We also are gearing up to support EMC2. Once you guys get a group then contact me. I'll be glad to give you ideas and observations from experience from our own builds, plus the hundreds I have been involved in with table vendors and individuals.

I lived and worked in the Dallas Area for many years (actually born in Dallas) but moved to the country about 10 years ago.

A shop tour might be better left until it starts to cool down. We are on a reduced Summer crew and work schedule until September. We are about an hour North of the metroplex East of 75. The drive is not too bad once you get north of McKinney. My phone number is on the website.

Also......You all might want to join my direct support forum. I answer a lot of "how to" questions and monitor it 7 days a week. It's Yahoo Group CandCNCSupport. When you join put in a note you are part of the North Dallas "Posse" and feel free to ask builder type questions.

That should be interesting. You will get a vivid dose of "CNC According to Bob Campbell". Evidently we are not considered "Expert" enough to be invited to participate or do any training classes or even be listed on the Links page. Could it be that we are a competitor? Surely, its not a marketing ploy......

Wow you weren't kidding when you said you were an hour north of the metroplex, I've never even heard of Whitewright. Anyway, I'd love to take a tour but with that kind of drive I'm assuming it would have to be a Saturday or Sunday.

I'm going to be there the 9th. I think that's what everyone but cnewb and tflynn6693 said. That said, I'm willing to go both weeks if some people can't make it one week but can make it the other. The drive isn't that long for me, and I'm always up for some good BBQ.

Did I miss the location for July 9th or July 16 meeting ?
I would be up to meeting anyone either day.

Just received my new Grizzly G0619 Mill. Probably a week before I'll
    Have it running.

This is the OFFICIAL meeting time that everyone has agreed on. The 16th was discussed initially but we decided to meet as soon as possible to build some momentum, and set a schedule for more meet ups.

    I'll be there for sure.

Looks like we'll have a decent group! Looking forward to meeting up.

In stead of sharing pic's of our kid's, dogs, etc, we'll be sharing pic's of our shops.

I'll be wearing a black collared shirt with an embroidered orange motorcycle on the back.

    See you all tomorrow!
