    x axis slipping

Hi we have a fadal 15xt we are taking heavy cuts on the x axis,
it seems like the x axis slipped about 1.25 inches.
I sent the machine to the home position and checked the alignment marks and they were off about 1.25 inches.
we took off the cover and checked the coupler between the motor and ball screw and both set screws were tight and had not slipped.
    does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance
    Erich

I would have to believe that the coupler has slipped. On the couplers that are not keyed, if you over tighten the clamp screw you distort the hole and reduce the holding power and slippage can occur.
Can you jog the machine back to the C/S makers and do a cold start and have the makers aligned correctly? If so then the couplers did not slip.
Alternatives would be the motor resolver is loose and rotated (doubtful) or that you experienced an electronic issue.
