    Multiple rectifiers to drop power supply voltage?

    Hi all,
    Probably a daft question but I was wondering whether anyone can think of a reason (other than global warming) not to use multiple rectifiers in series to drop power supply voltage?

    I've got a lovely 1000VA toroid transformer available for a new power supply but it's putting out 18V more than my drives can handle. As I have a big bag of rectifiers (30A continuous rating) on the shelf I was wondering about wiring 26 of them in series to drop the voltage as each one drops 0.7V. Any advice?

    Remove windings, much more efficient, about 9 turns.
    With a Toriod it is relatively easy.
    There are many previous posts here on the subject.

    Or if you do not want to cut into the tape and varnish you could add a few windings and connect them in series with but opposite polarity to the existing winding.
