    ger21,

Taken care of later this evening. This place is a madhouse churning out these new drives. Marcus made the price based on the actual 1,000 piece G250 price ($31 + $8). The promise was $29 for the G250, making the G251 $37 ($29 + $8) for the duration of the sale. That's important; that $2 saved makes the difference between having a triple mocha latte at Starbucks or not.:-)

    Cool,

That means I get a $12.00 refund on my order of six at $39.00 each, instead of $37.0 each.

It gets better and better. Mariss, we'll stop short of you paying me for the purchase.

    Al,

You are a good guy. Of course your card will be credited the difference. I feel bad I was on another line when you called today, I would have liked to say hello to you.

That call was with Bruce, the developer of the "CNC Brain", one of the smartest people I have run into in a while. It concerned the G540 and his CNC Brain device. This may turn out like the traffic collision between the Hersey's Chocolate truck and the Planter's Peanuts truck. Good ideas are afoot.:-)

    Mariss,
I would hope you have much tastier alternatives in California... But I guess it's like the Coke/Pepsi thing. You either love it or hate it .

    Mariss,

I am sorry I didn't get the chance to say "Hello".

On another subject, I may be the bearer of not great news. Your retirement plans may have to wait a few more years.

Perhaps, it might be a good idea to Gold plate that hot tub and put it on display in your lobby, thus keeping you out of it. It is to blame for causing you to be in your present position of doing great things and advancing CNC for the hobbyist and others..

    Hello!

I am trying to understand whether the new G251 can be set to run at full, half, or 1/4 step?

I try to read in the manual, but I can't find such information.

    Best regards,

    Wachara C.

I believe the G251 is locked at 10 microstep.

Oops! I just read that the resolution is 10 microsteps per full step. I am now using a board from another supplier and running the motor unipolar at max 70 mm per sec using half step. Would G251 be able to run at least at the same or better speed than what I can achieve now?

Probably, but we would need the motor specs and power supply voltage to determine that.

I'm using a 3 amp motor and run it at around 35VDC unipolar. And it is a 200 steps per turn motor.

It would depend on if you're PC can output steps 5 times faster than it does with your current drives.

"... It concerned the G540 and his CNC Brain device."

I first read about the G540 and the CNC Brain at about the same time. My first thought was, would these two play well together?

I hope to read here sometime that they do.

Ed - ... currently assembling his G540 mill while 6-year-old Gecko box is running in the background. It's nice to not have to use the wire-strippers so much this time!

Is that a five wire motor or a six wire motor? Can you give the motor inductance or name and model please?

    BTW: Welcome to the Zone!

    3.5A matching motors

Our 8-wire Nema34's are 3.5A-4A in series. At 48V in series the upper speed torque won't be what it would on a G201 in parallel but it might suit some price sensitive applications. A 960 oz/in 3.5A (series) would give the best result.

Regarding specs for the new nema23's: Please contact me at www.homeshopcnc.com as I don't want to bog this thread down with our motor data. Thanks.

There are two threads I follow almost religiously in the last couple of months, this one and the CNCBrains.

Please tell us anything that can be told Im waiting for next release of the cncbrains software to puchase it, it looks like a really amazing product, and what you just said adds a lot more value to it.

Did the kapton tape option never make it into production? No sign of it on the G250's I received.
