hey gang, looking for some help with a magnaturn 612 tabletop cnc lathe. i've tried to contact southbend, but no help there. basically i've inherited an old machine shop program at a highschool and i dont want to throw out this very rarely used looking lathe. i know my students could enjoy it, but i;ve no idea what software, hardware/etc it needs to get up and running.
can anyone familiar with this animal contact me for some help.

i am so happy that more people feel this way, i am hoping to guide this program into a pre-engneering/manufacturing/robotics path. i feel these kids need more meaning than just making a cheap china made looking object in class.
i will look around for that pc unit, and see if i can scrape together anything else that seems like its as old as that machine.
can you do me a favor and email/post pictures of your setup - the lathe, pc and maybe a screen shot. i would be in heaven if this thing isnt another money pit.
