    linear rails VS shafts

Hey all what do you consider to be the stronger more ridged design. The linear rails or the shafts.

I will be building a machine designed to mill aluminum so strength is of the upmost importance. I cant have alot of flex or bearing play. I see the linear rails are pretty pricy so im guessing they must be the better of the 2. However I have no experience.

    what are your ideas

    thanks

    Your assumtion is correct.
Fully supported using heavy stable cast is best (well...epoxy granite is best...but).
Next best is HEAVY steel construction, stress relieving (normalizing) is important.
