    Switchplate covers butterfly

My daughter wanted a butterfly switchplate cover for her room so I whipped up one for a single switch and one for a double switch. I just borrowed the butterfly and the switchplate holes from a couple files and slapped them together. I cut it out of 3/8 MDF using a 1/16 bit. My daughter had a great time painting them.

Hey Toplakd, still trying to figure out CamBam, I find that their help file is not very helpful, I have been Googling help. BTW, for example the Mack Truck dxf, would all the internal cuts and engraves be embedded into the file or must I create the varous layers for INT, EXT and ENG cuts.
    Thanking you
    Eric

    @Eric5501

Internal and external cuts can be in one operation profile (Profile), because Cambam autodetects what is inside and what is outside on the parts.

For engraving you have to use "Engrave" and choose desired deepth of engrave.
I normaly use 1.5mm when using 4mm material.

You may also look at this video, mabye it will help you.

The reason I like CamBam is that is easy to use and it offers 40 trial starts
without any limitations. After 40 starts I have bought the licence.

It is meant to be cut from 4mm material and with 1.5mm cutter.
If you will use other thickness, scale it to your needs.

If you use bigger cutter as 1.5mm, you will have problems when assembling.

    Assembly insturctions:

    1. Do not start with the ground plate, You have to start with 2nd floor and then build it išto the 6th floor.
    2. Dont add the top floor or any fences yet. Now it is time to build the inner circle from 16 long parts.
    3. Now you take the bottom plate and put together the ground floor. When you have it you put it together
with the rest of the tower.
    4. Glue together the bottom ground plate for the tower and put something 4-6mm thick on one side of the holes, so
    the tower will stay leaned.

There is one spare part for each floor in case you break something

If you build it from 4mm material it will be in 1:100 scale.

When i opened the DXF file, on the 6th and 7th long peice it looks like a hole is missing or should it be that way, just checking before start cutting.

Hi Dejan, thanks a lot for the video I found it very informative and of great help. I had a look at the Sketchup file of the Mack truck and saw that there are two long trailers on the right hand side, do you have the dxf for them? My brother-in-law is a truck driver and I would like to do a truck for him about a metre long for his birthday later in the year (I will ask you later about enlarging the drawing) I would also like to make the Piza tower about 1.5 metre tall with a light inside and have cut outs instead of the engraves on the long pieces. What are your thoughts.
    Regards, Eric

For 1,5m tall pisa, just take 12mm material and scale the dxf x3.

I haven't got the time to explode the sketchup file to 2d to get the dxf for the trailer.
I draw all my parts in 3d first, and when they totaly fit than I do 2d drawing from it.
The oil tank trailer is however just a mockup and is not finished.

Regarding the Pisa tower, the holes on large parts are ment to be cutted out.

On my tower the doors on large parts are not cutted, because on the picture
is my first tower and I forgot to take pictures of Final version.

Finished this design for a client . The prototype was thrown together as I was not expecting it to work first time. I will definitely be designing in 3D in future. Drawing time goes up but at least it doesn't require numerous prototypes to correct.

I hope to clear out my backlog of designs and finish the Jinty train to share on the Zone. I have plans to put a motor in it.

I used sketchup for my Mack Truck and my Pisa Tower.
And both of them were designed in 3d first.

If it fits in 3d it will fit in 2d.
