    New to me PCNC 100

This is a great site. I have just bought a used PCNC 1100 of EBay. Serial # 063. It was not used very much as the original owner could not figure out how to operate it. Gave $4750 for it, a clamp kit and the home made stand. Was this a decent buy? I am very impressed with the machine so far and looking forward to making things. I am new to CNC but hope to learn from the people on this site. I have an old J head BP so I have some tooling to use. What are some of the necessities that I am going to need? What size vise are people using. I see that Tormach recommends a 5" vice but the price is a little steep for theirs. Is a 6" vise really to big. I have seen some decent prices on some of them and they are quite common on ebay. I have got to build a flood coolant system to use. any advice and recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

I run a STM machine vise with a 8.9" jaw opening and it fits just fine. It may be worth buying a brand new deluxe stand from Tormach, I think it comes with the coolant pump and reservoir.

    Congrats on the good purchase.

I use a Kurt D688 vise on my Tormach. The vise hase an 8.8" opening. I only lose about an inch on the Y axis and that has not been a problem. I cut a U shaped hole in the splash guard to accomodate the hex nut. see: http://ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/tor.../view/4a78?b=2 and http://ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/tor...78?b=9&m=s&o=0

sounds like you got it for a good price!

what accessories did you get with it? if it didn't come with their tool holders, i would highly recommend picking up the tts cnc set.

do you have any pictures of the stand or maybe the link to the ebay ad?
