    Dumb Protel Question

I have drawn up a circuit in the PCB section of Protel, I am now trying to print it off. I can get the whole circuit including the silkscreen to print, or I can get the tracks only to print. I cannot get tracks and pads to print without printing all the silkscreen guff!

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks

    Ben

    Hey there,

I don't add a silkscreen until the very end anyway but have you tried Edit, Cut the silkscreen, printing and then Undo or Paste back in? Perhaps creating 2 files might also help.

    Regards,
    Julio

Hrmm, I could be a little confused then...

The attachment is the design just lifted straight from Protel. When I print it prints the whole lot, when I uncheck the silkscreen option in the print options then it only prints the red parts (tracks only not pads)

Oh yeah, I did the design by just creating the pcb, I didn't do a schematic first - although that shouldn't matter...

The version of Protel is at least 6 years old, and still runs the old win3.1 format - it has also been about 6 years since I have used it too - hence my rustiness

Might be time to upgrade to something a little more user friendly...

Hey, nevermind - got it sorted.

I went into the Setup Composite Print Layers and selected 'All Off' then 'Used On' and then unchecked the Silkscreen Overlay, which has fixed it. Oh yeah, and I think that a 10mil track width is going to be too fine for my dodgy laser print on photo paper, iron it onto the board and soak to get it off then etch... I think it's going to need at least 30mil for anyone else that follows this method!!
