    Haas VF3 rebuild costs

I am looking at a 93 haas vf3. It has about 4,000 hrs however the screws seem to need backlash adjustment or they are worn out.

Any idea on the cost of new screws?

    Thanks

I have never had it done, but I know of some people who have had ball screws reground, and had over sized balls reloaded in the nuts.
I would look for a company that can rebuild ball screws.

in the UK you would be looking at £250 each for a re-grind and new balls,
(thats if you take them out and send them away yourself)

I would also change the thrust bearings as well.

I'm sure that there are people in the USA, just like the UK who will try and charge 3 times that, and just pretend they do it, where they are really sending it down the road to have done.

Worth also cheacking that the oil lube is working correctly on your ways and ball nuts as well whilst the covers are off.

Why not just order a new ball screw from Haas? Why would you pay for a regrind? Could not see the offset in price not being worth it? Must be a good deal on a 93 like free?
