I have a VMC that puts a fog of 10wt spindle oil through the spindle bearings,
then out the bottom of the spindle. So fine it looks like smoke.
- So fine its hard to imagine any sticking to the bearings, but it seems to work.
Anybody heard of using Ozone air to enhance fog-to-surface attraction?
Oops sorry, maybe thats another thread...

I use oil for the flood so coolant mist is not the problem, but this fine fog
of spindle oil is. I have neighbors nearby so I really don't want a
70~100db Mist Collector being the loudest thing in my shop.

EBay prices for used collectors are generally $500 & up when you add shipping.
- And for something that often seems too small to do a good job.
I guess demand for used ones is pretty strong compared to other eBay items.

It seems as if building a passive system (sucking the air through an 12" cube
of PU open-cell foam) would do most of whats needed, depending upon the
parameters of the foam and airflow. I would use a sqirrel cage blower with an
explosion-proof motor to suck air through a box containing the foam.

Any other DIY solutions out there for home shops?
